Achieving Optimum Health

Did you know body aches and pain can start from the feet?

Remember the lyrics to "Dry Bones" from Delta Rhythm Boys? It goes like this.....

Well, your toe bone connected to your foot bone
Your foot bone connected to your heel bone
Your heel bone connected to your ankle bone
Your ankle bone connected to your leg bone
Your leg bone connected to your knee bone
Your knee bone connected to your thigh bone....you get the idea

This song is a perfect example of how the body is connected to what is called a kinetic chain. When the foot hits the ground everything above it will react to it. Thus if the arch flattens by dropping downward and inward, the knee will follow a similar pattern (unless there is advanced osteoarthritis in the medial compartment causing the knee joint to “bow” vs. turn inward and appear "knock-kneed").

Did you know you inherit your foot type?

Here is an analogy, compare your body to your car....if your tires are not balanced, they will wear unevenly, causing the alignment to be off or make your steering wheel shake. Well your feet are similar to your tires and if they too are not balanced, your musculoskeletal system (muscles, tendons, fascia, bones) can incur repetitive stress and play a role in the following conditions:
